Bethany Tietjen is a Predoctoral Research Fellow at the Climate Policy Lab and a PhD candidate at The Fletcher School. Her research focuses on climate adaptation and resilience policy in the United States and how to align policy with current and future climate vulnerabilities. In addition to her dissertation research, Bethany has conducted research and taught graduate-level classes on climate-induced migration, climate change and security, climate finance, and the gendered impacts of climate change. She received her M.A. from the Fletcher School with a focus on climate policy and gender and intersectional analysis and her B.A. in International Studies and German Studies from American University in Washington, D.C. She has over 10 years of experience living and working internationally in Southeast Asia, Central America, Europe, and the Middle East, and brings that perspective to her research.
