Community Voices

This summer I had the opportunity to work with Professor Kelly Sims Gallagher as an intern at the Climate Policy Lab at the Fletcher School – an internship that was the perfect opportunity to spend time working on the area I have chosen to specialize in – low carbon growth for emerging economies.

Over the summer, I had the opportunity to work with the Solutions for Youth Employment team under the World Bank’s Jobs Group of the Social Protection and Jobs Global Practice. Solutions for Youth Employment (S4YE) is a global partnership platform convened to address the growing skills and livelihood challenges faced by youth. Over the next 10 years, more than a billion young people will enter the job market. T

Through my journey at Fletcher, I have sought to understand my role in combating climate change, and the summer of 2022 provided me with an opportunity to find out. Leveraging my experience working with local government in India, I was tasked to assist three municipalities in New Jersey to become more sustainable as part of the Environmental Defense Fund (EDF) Climate Corps Fellowship. It was an opportunity to understand how local governments can help achieve federal targets in reducing GHGs and how bipartisan support can be catalyzed for this mission.

Since coming to Fletcher in the Fall of 2021, I’ve been working to apply my climate and sustainability communications leadership background to transition to a new post-graduation career in climate program development and management. With the broad and deep climate curriculum, I’ve gained a range of skills and honed others. This summer, I deeply valued the opportunity to apply these learnings while gaining experience in climate finance and resilience as a Sustainable Infrastructure Fellow for CDP North America.
