Mieke van der Wansem

Director of Programs

Mieke van der Wansem is the Director of Programs at the Center for International Environment and Resource Policy (CIERP) and Climate Policy Lab (CPL) at The Fletcher School, Tufts University. Mieke contributes to strategic thinking and manages CPL’s program portfolio. Mieke designs, develops, and implements various executive education programs, including CPL’s Climate Policy Summer Academies and visiting scholars programs.

Mieke has over thirty years experience as organizational and program leader and manager, trainer, and researcher on environmental and natural resource policy issues around the globe. Mieke designs and delivers executive education programs focused on negotiation for sustainable development, tailored to professional practitioners in the field. The goal of these programs is to facilitate professionals from many different sectors, and particularly from developing countries, to be better able to achieve sustainable development goals through effective stakeholder engagement and negotiation. 

Mieke has authored many multi-stakeholder negotiation simulations on natural resource and development conflict topics, some of which are for sale at the Harvard Program on Negotiations teaching materials and publications website (http://www.pon.harvard.edu/store/).

Mieke has a MALD from The Fletcher School, Tufts University and a B.S from Boston University.
